A Revolution Of The Soul

A Revolution Of The Soul

The Business Case For Radical Love

A Revolution of The Soul was the theme of PolicyLink‘s recent Equity Summit in ATL.

There is so much I want to share about what I learned, what I have reflected, and I will start here:

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲

Radical love might sound soft, but for today’s business leaders, it’s a powerful strategy for success. Leaders like MLK and bell hooks understood that love is about action, responsibility, and creating environments where everyone can thrive. In business, this translates to embedding empathy into our decision-making, which drives innovation, productivity, and loyalty.

Key reflections for Business Leaders:

  • 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Are you fostering a culture that values people as more than resources?
  • 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺: Acknowledge where your business might be causing harm—whether it’s in workforce treatment, supply chain decisions, or customer interactions—and actively work to repair it.
  • 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Leading with love means creating sustainable growth that benefits employees, customers, and communities alike.

Leading with love isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s smart business.

True leadership starts from within.

As business leaders, our willingness to confront our innermost thoughts, beliefs, biases and commit to continuous personal growth is what sets the stage for real organizational change that includes us all.

The revolution of the soul is a deep, ongoing journey that’s just as crucial for driving innovation and cultural transformation as any external strategy. Leading with authenticity and vulnerability fosters trust and creates cultures that thrive.

An invitation of reflection:

  • 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗮𝘀: What internal biases might be limiting your ability to lead inclusively and effectively for all?
  • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: Are your personal values aligned with how you lead your business and your teams?
  • 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: Sustainable leadership comes from continually evolving—both personally and professionally.

When we commit to inner transformation, we create the conditions for external success. How are you leading from within?
